Alex, founder & owner [click for bio]
Since founding Alpha in 2001 Alex has paired his passion for pets with his background in client management and brand marketing to create the most successful independent in-home animal care services provider in the history of the industry.
Alex admits when he got started over a decade ago there was a lot to learn, "I definitely learned on the job, I've been fortunate to work with an incredibly skilled team of caregivers as well as amazingly well-informed parents. Even after all these years I continue to learn so much; it's a real comfort to our pet-parents to know we can handle whatever comes our way."
When he's not playing with his puppy Oliver and cat Jack, Alex is an avid reader, cyclist, amateur mixologist and classically trained concert pianist.
Lisa, general manager [click for bio]
A Lakewood native, Lisa H grew up with two wonderful German shepherds, Nikki and Misty, and numerous tadpoles which grew to become her pet frogs.
Currently Lisa has two babies: a one year-old little boy of the human variety as well as baby French bulldog/pug mix. Not only does Lisa do an amazing job keeping the proverbial trains running on-time as Alpha's General Manager she also provides the best care possible for her clients' fur kids.
In her free time you can usually find her reading Goodnight Moon with her son, catching up on the latest happenings on Homeland or Dexter with her husband, or in the kitchen whipping up a batch of vegan cupcakes.
Bonnie, senior associate [click for bio]
Bonnie has been caring for pets with Alpha for 11 years! Although she's a native Californian, prior to joining us she worked in New York as an Early Childhood Educator for almost a decade. A naturally gifted and passionate caregiver, Bonnie loved working with children (including raising 3 of her own) but saw this as the perfect position for her. And over the past decade every one of Bonnie's clients couldn't agree more!
"I have so much respect for the awesome responsibility that clients entrust with me and I love having a job that keeps me active." says Bonnie.
In her spare time Bonnie is a proud mom to her cat Gertie, a connoisseur of fine food and wine and a huge sports fan. Her favorite teams are the Yankees and the 49ers. Oh well, nobody's perfect.
Elizabeth, senior associate [click for bio]
Originally from Arkansas Elizabeth worked in child care for 10 years before she joined Alpha Pet Care in 2010. She has a natural ability with animals, especially dogs and quickly became a client favorite.
In early 2011 she joined the doggie daycare team as a DayCamp Coordinator. Whether she's walking, sitting or supervising off-leash play, the animals love her and their parents enjoy the peace of mind she provides.
Elizabeth has 4 dogs: 3 chihuahuas, Ozzy, Foot Foot, Colbert and a shitzu named Happy. In her spare time Elizabeth works with animal rescues, most recently with Smooch Pooch & Mutt Match LA.
Julie, senior associate [click for bio]
Before joining the Alpha team, Julie and her cat Fergie were Alpha clients. Julie is an exceptional caregiver, bringing an extraordinary amount of kindness and patience into every home. She also works as a freelance travel writer and competes in marathons and triathlons. Worried your dog will wear her out? Think again!
Amy, senior associate [click for bio]
Since joining Alpha in 2001 Amy Howard has been beloved by her pet parents. In fact, many of them insist on only working with Amy and will arrange their travel plans around her availability! The care she provides her animals is truly the gold standard in the pet care service industry.
Cathleen, associate [click for bio]
After having spent several years living in Oregon, Cathleen, a native to So Cal, moved back to the Long Beach area in 2008 for the most practical reason of all - the weather! She describes herself as a stray dog magnet and spends much of her free time doing animal rescue on her own and with Smooch Pooch and the German Shepherd Rescue of Orange County.
As one of Alpha's DayCamp Coordinators Cathleen is beloved by both her dogs and their parents. In fact, she was a huge hit with the pups the moment they met her!
In her free time she enjoys cooking (her co-workers at DayCamp are very thankful for her baking skills), cycling, jogging and taking her border collie mix Spot to the dog beach.
Lisa, associate [click for bio]
Because of her passion for animals, Lisa recently decided to transition from her long career in clothing design to pet care. When not lavishing the pets in her care with lots of TLC, you'll find Lisa either running and cycling through the streets of Signal Hill or practicing yoga. She loves all animals and has been lucky enough to have lived her life surrounded by the best bassett hounds, Earnest and Ava, and labrador retrievers, Mallory and Alexis.
Andrea, associate [click for bio]
Andrea's passion for animals stems from having been raised from a young age with a menagerie of domestic and exotic animals. Prior to joining Alpha, Andrea was a loyal and trusted pet sitter and dog walker for her friends and family for over a decade. She enjoys caring for animals of all shapes and sizes as if they were her own.
In her free time you'll find her at the beach, camping, continuing her education in zoology, or watching a movie at home with her kitty kids Spica, Lucy & Mira.

Danielle, associate [click for bio]
Danielle, a Redondo Beach native, knew at a young age that working with animals was her calling. While other little girls were playing with dolls she was bringing home strays and playing make-believe pretending she was a dog. Her parents finally drew the line when she would wear her dog's collar and bark at guests!
Prior to working for Alpha Danielle worked as a groomer & bather at a local pet store. She felt so bad for the dogs for sale in their cages that she would play with them and walk them in her free time.
In her spare time Danielle is the proud mom of two rescue dogs, Harley & Chewy. They love car rides and go with her everywhere but when they allow her out of their sight she enjoys cycling on the beach bike path.

Anastasia, associate [click for bio]
In addition to caring for pets at Alpha, Anastasia has spent the past 10 years working as a writer and editor for animal hobbyist magazines and websites. She counts herself lucky to have grown up in a rural coastal town with plenty of room for the myriad dogs, cats and farm animals who were part of her childhood.
In her spare time she enjoys yoga, running, sewing and crafting. She's donated her blanket making skills to a local animal shelter.
And recently she was lucky enough to meet the infamous Grumpy Cat (pictured)!
Debi, associate [click for bio]
Debi has a life-time of experience caring for pets both personally and professionally; she's even worked as a pet au pair! Debi specializes in geriatric, special needs and handicapped dogs. During her first interview with Alpha she brought along a photo album of all the 'kids' she's worked with over the course of her career, we're delighted for our clients to benefit from Debi's experience and compassion.

Michelle, associate [click for bio]
Michelle has lived in Southern California for the past 11 years and been an all around animal lover her entire life. She spent a summer on a ranch when she was 13 and was in sheer heaven.
Prior to joining the staff, Michelle was an Alpha client and felt that being a caregiver for pets is such a natural extension of who she is; there is nothing she enjoys more than working with furry friends.
With four tiny chihuahuas and a sweet bunny of her own she is looking forward to cuddling and caring for your pets as if they were her own.
Kate, associate [click for bio]
Kate’s love and respect for animals began at an early age and has continued throughout her life. She attended college in Alaska earning a degree in biology and learning from the local mushers about the importance of the intuitive relationship we have with animals. During the summer Kate was entrusted to care for dog teams and still cherishes the experience to this day.
After working in cancer research for 14 years and then traveling throughout the West Coast Kate decided to pursue a career caring for animals, something she’s been passionate about all her life.
In her free time Kate is a huge fan of vintage architecture, furniture and clothing.
