Q: Why should I send my dog to Daycamp
A: Because its FUN! Doggie Daycamp not only provides exercise and playtime but also helps to reinforce training and socialization you've already started at home. Not only are basic commands a part of our daily vocabulary but dogs, just like people, learn through observing each other. Dogs are social animals and need interaction with humans and other dogs. Those with no outlet for their energy are very likely to develop bad habits such as destructiveness, aggression & excessive barking just to name a few.
Q: What is the schedule?
A: Doggie Daycamp runs weekdays only. Pickup begins at 9am and the last pup is dropped off by 4pm. Your pickup/dropoff times will vary depending upon where you live on our route. Daycamp is closed on weekends and holidays.
**Please note: So as to minimize disruption to the group, all dogs must be enrolled on a regular schedule of at least two days per week. You are welcome to add days to that schedule but we don't accept daycamp clients on an 'add-on' basis.
Q: What areas do you service
A: Currently Doggie Daycamp is available to Long Beach residents only. Our other services such as Dog Walking and Pet Sitting are available in other communities such as Lakewood, Seal Beach, Rossmoor, Cypress & Huntington Beach.
Q: Who can join Doggie Daycamp
A: All dogs must meet the following requirements:
- In good physical & mental health
- Must be spayed/neutered, at least 1 year old & weigh at least 15lbs
- Current on all vaccinations
- Receiving a topical anti-flea medication such as Advantage or Frontline
- Housebroken
Q: How do you decide if my dog can attend Daycamp?
A: In addition to the above minimum requirements, when we first speak on the phone to schedule a meeting we'll ask a series of preliminary questions. Second, when we meet in person we'll be observing your dog's behavior, living situation as well as asking historical questions about behavior. In the past six years this screening process has ensured that we only enroll dogs that are good candidates.
Q: What if my dog doesn’t like other dogs?
A: We are always available to provide private dog walks. The walk itself is 30 minutes and is a great way for your pet to get plenty of exercise and have an opportunity to go to the bathroom.
Q: Is Doggie Daycamp safe for my dog?
A: Yes. Our campsite is enclosed and private. Only dogs that are enrolled in Daycamp attend. The grounds are mostly grass with some patio areas and are kept clean and well-manicured. In addition to the anti-flea medication our dogs receive from their parents, the grounds are periodically treated for fleas and ticks as well. And while fresh water is always available, we have a strict 'no-food' policy on the campground as this commonly incurs aggressive behavior. In the extremely unlikely event that your pet sustains an injury we will seek professional veterinary care from Blue Cross Veterinary Hospital and notify you immediately. This policy applies to all of our services.
Q: How does payment work?
A: Daycamp service is billed monthly in advance. New clients pay their first month's fees at the initial meeting. Subsequent months are billed prior to the start of each month. Invoices are delivered by email and contain instructions to pay online with a credit card or by check in person/by mail.
Q: What happens when it rains?
A: Fortunately this is not a frequent concern in Southern California. However on the rare occasion that it rains, Daycamp will be cancelled. When we initially meet with you to enroll your dog you can choose either to have your dog walked on a rain day or have the trip postponed to another day.
